Paul Helm on William Young

Reformed Academic Press is to publish a collection of selected writings of William Young. Young wrote a couple of pieces on Dooyeweerd; including this one. He was also one of the translators of Dooyeweerd's NCTT Vol 1 and author of Towards a Reformed Philosophy.

Paul Helm's Introduction is available here.

"Bill seems to have had little sympathy with much of the recent 'Christian philosophy' movement, partly, I imagine, because of its almost uniform emphasis on indeterministic free will and also because of its failure to appreciate and conserve the Augustinian and Reformed theological heritage."

Shoddy, no?

PS. Interesting thing about Young -- if my memory serves -- is that he studied logic with Hintikka (giver of Locke lectures, winner of Schock prize, included in Library of Living Philosophers) back in the 60's. Pity I didn't know that when I met Hintikka in January.
