Is evolution really the central theory for all of biology?
Philip Skell recently published an interesting article in The Scientist (29 August, p. 10): "Why Do We Invoke Darwin?" (The full text of the article is available here). It promoted a healthy discussion and debate on the ASA Mailing list. Cornelius Hunter, Ted Davis, George Murphy, Terry Gray, Michael Roberts and others debate the issues. It's central the same way gravity is to physics. Some guy doing pratical physics like electron tunnelling or medicine like antibotics doesn't need to refer to either gravity or medicine.
